Getting Fusion Fibre installed? Here’s what you can expect when we bring full fibre into your home.
Unlike traditional broadband, full fibre uses a fibre-optic connection all the way to your property. This means some equipment needs to be installed inside and outside your home before we can get you connected.
Once your order is ready to progress, we'll arrange your installation and let you know when to expect us.
On the day, please make sure:
Our engineer will discuss the installation with you before starting work.
The engineer will bring the fibre connection from our network to your property.
A small Customer Terminal Box (CTB) is installed on the outside of your property. This is where the external fibre connection meets the fibre cable that continues into your home.
The exact route will depend on your property and where our network enters your premises.
Inside your home, we'll install an Optical Network Terminal (ONT).
The ONT converts the fibre signal coming into your property into a connection your broadband equipment can use.
Your ONT will need to be positioned somewhere suitable with access to power. The engineer will talk you through the location before installing it.
Once installed, please don't move, remove or alter your ONT or fibre equipment. This equipment forms part of your Fusion Fibre connection, and changing it could stop your service from working correctly.
Your router connects to the ONT using an Ethernet cable.
Once everything is connected, your router can provide internet access to your devices over Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet connection.
If you need help getting your router up and running after installation, head over to our Setup section.
Some installation work may be required to bring the fibre cable into your home.
What’s needed can vary depending on the property and the existing network infrastructure. Your engineer will assess this and explain the proposed installation before carrying out the work.
With the fibre installed, ONT connected and router set up, you're ready to start using your Fusion Fibre service.
Remember that the broadband speed delivered to your ONT and the speed an individual device receives over Wi-Fi aren't necessarily the same thing. Things like your Wi-Fi environment, device and connection method can affect the speed you see on a device.
