IN A NUTSHELL - IT'S BROADBAND BUILT FOR THE 21ST CENTURY.

More speed for the things you love. More reliability for the things you need.

Full fibre broadband is built to give you a better connection, day in, day out.

Also known as FTTP (Fibre to the Premises), full fibre uses fibre optic cables all the way to your property.

Unlike older types of broadband that use copper phone lines for part of the journey, full fibre keeps things fibre from end to end.

So you get a faster, more reliable connection that’s ready to put in the miles today, with plenty left in the tank for tomorrow.

And tomorrow is looking increasingly full fibre.

As the UK moves away from its ageing copper phone network, more homes and businesses are making the switch.

Thinking of joining them? We’ll get you up to speed. Literally.

the uk's on the move to full fibre broadband

We've asked a lot of copper over the years. Streaming, gaming, video calls and smart homes have all pushed it to its limits.

Full fibre is the upgrade built to keep up with the way we live today.

Choosing full fibre means enjoying faster, more reliable broadband today while knowing your home is ready for tomorrow.

With the UK's copper phone network due to be switched off by the end of 2027, you'll already be connected to the technology that's replacing it.

As full fibre continues to roll out across the UK, we're helping more homes and businesses make the switch through our own growing network and trusted wholesale partners.

HOW DOES FULL FIBRE BROADBAND ACTUALLY WORK?

Before your broadband reaches your home, it has a journey to make. With full fibre, that journey happens entirely over fibre optic cables, rather than switching onto ageing copper phone lines for the final stretch.

Because your connection stays on fibre from start to finish, your broadband is built to perform, even when your home is at its busiest.

Once you've placed your order, we'll take care of the rest. An engineer will connect your home to the local full fibre network, install a small device to link your router, and before you know it, you'll be enjoying ultrafast broadband.

How fast is full fibre broadband compared to standard broadband?

+

Full fibre broadband is significantly faster than standard broadband. With speeds of up to 900 Mbps or more, it can be over 10x faster than most standard broadband connections, such as ADSL or FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet).

Typical speeds:

  • Full Fibre Broadband (FTTP): Up to 900 Mbps (and even higher in some areas)
  • Part Fibre Broadband (FTTC): Up to 80 Mbps
  • ADSL (Standard copper broadband): Around 10–24 Mbps

Full fibre allows you to:

  • Download a full HD movie in seconds
  • Stream 4K and UHD content on multiple devices simultaneously
  • Play online games with ultra-low ping
  • Work from home with crystal-clear video calls and fast file uploads

Whether it's one device or twenty, full fibre gives your household the bandwidth to do more, together.

Why is full fibre broadband better than standard broadband?

+

Full fibre broadband, also known as FTTP (Fibre to the Premises), is a game-changer for internet users in the UK. Unlike older connections like ADSL or FTTC, which use copper cables, full fibre broadband uses fibre optic cables all the way to your home, delivering dramatically faster and more reliable internet.

Why full fibre broadband matters:

  • Ultrafast speeds: Up to 900 Mbps download and upload speeds
  • Low latency: Ideal for online gaming, video calls, and real-time applications
  • Unmatched reliability: Less affected by weather, distance, or peak-time congestion
  • Future-proof: Built to handle the demands of smart homes, 4K streaming, and remote work
  • Symmetrical speeds: Same fast performance for uploads and downloads (perfect for video calls, cloud backups, and sharing content)

As the UK begins phasing out copper networks, full fibre broadband is becoming the default standard for modern connectivity.

Do I need an engineer to install full fibre broadband?

+

Yes, in some cases, you will need an engineer to install full fibre broadband, especially if you are upgrading to FTTP (Fibre to the Premises).

Unlike standard broadband, full fibre requires a new fibre optic cable to be installed directly into your home from the street. This is a one-time setup that ensures you get the full benefit of ultrafast speeds and a future-proof connection.

What to expect during your full fibre broadband installation:

  • An engineer will bring the fibre cable into your home, usually through a wall near your router location.
  • They will install an Optical Network Terminal (ONT). This is a box that connects your new fibre line to your broadband router.
  • Installation typically takes 1–3 hours and you will need to be home while it is done.

Do you already have full fibre broadband installed?

If your property already has an active ONT, you may not need an engineer visit, and setup can be as simple as plugging in your router.

Need more help? Our team will let you know during your sign up whether an engineer visit is required and what to expect. To check availability at your address, use our Full Fibre Broadband Availability Checker.

What is One Touch Switch and how does it make switching broadband easier?

+

The One Touch Switch is a new, Ofcom-backed process introduced in April 2024 that makes it faster and easier for UK customers to switch broadband providers. It allows you to change providers using only your new broadband company, with no need to contact your old one, and regardless of whether you're on standard, part-fibre (FTTC), or full fibre (FTTP) broadband.

Your new provider handles the entire switch from start to finish, making the process simple, stress-free, and designed to avoid any service disruption.

  • No awkward cancellation calls
  • Faster switching process (typically within 1–2 working days)
  • Keeps you connected throughout the switch
  • Helps protect against unexpected charges or delays

How do I check if full fibre broadband is available in my area?

+

Full fibre broadband is available in more UK areas than ever before, thanks to major network rollouts from CityFibre, MS3 Networks, F&W Networks, and others. However, availability still depends on your exact postcode and whether your area has been upgraded to full fibre broadband (FTTP).
